How To Cheong In CP - DIY (for newbie) 1/2
Wrote this while I was in the plane...
Occasionally I will receive the question from the bros who are new to Dongguan and want cheong there, so I m here to post the basic info on how to cheong in dongguan. And, first starts with CP.
For those who are not familiar with China, here is a basic geography knowledge. China is classified the country by province, down from the province is city; the city is formed by the area or town, and to go down further, it is town->village->street.
Dongguan is one of the city of Guangdong province, and Dongguan is formed by 32 towns that include Changping, Chang'an Humen, Houjie, Zhangmutou, Dalang, Huangjiang, Hengli and etc.
This posting will only explain about CP, I will do the rest next time (when have time).
This is the long posting, hope it is not too bored to you guys... Hehehehe.
Traveling
From sillypore (or overseas), there are 4 main ways you can travel to CP.
The most convenient one is landed at Shenzhen airport, and from Shenzhen airport take the private car to CP. The journey is about 1 hour drive and the cost is RMB200 per trip per car. Tigerairways and Airairsia do operate the flights from sillypore/KL to Shenzhen.
2nd, from Guangzhou airport. There are two ways you can travel to CP, for the convenient version, take the private car to CP, the journey is about 2 hours drive and the cost is RMB400 per trip per car. For the economy version, from the airport take the transport to the Guangzhou train station, and then take the train that heading to Shenzhen direction, but stop at the Dongguan station. Dongguan train station is located at CP (the train cost is RMB45 per trip).
3rd, from Macau airport. From the Macau airport, take the bus to Zhuhai Gongbei custom, then take the private car to CP. The journey is about 2 hour drive and the cost is RMB400 per trip per car. Tigerairways does operate the flights from sillypore to Macau.
4th, from HK airport. There are 3 ways you can travel to CP. From the airport, take the HuaTong 7 seated MPV from the airport, it is HKD200 per trip, the good thing about HuaTong is do you not have to get out when crossing the custom (unless during the random check). 2nd, take the bus from the airport, don't know how much the cost is, long time I never take liao, but should lesser than HKD200 per trip. The bad thing about this is you need to get down from the bus when crossing the both HK and China customs. 3rd, from HK airport, take the subway (MRT, but MTR in HK) till HongKan station, and then take the direct train to CP. The traveling time from HK to CP is 2 hours plus to 3 hours.
Except via HK, for the rest of the traveling, I strongly do not encourage you to take the public transport, including the taxi. Although travel by public transport could save a bit (one or two hundred RMB), but you are taking the risk of doing so. For those who did not follow my postings, just a gentle reminder, China is not safe, especially the cities in Guangdong!
If you are the newbie and do not have the private car contacts, get the contact from the bros here, most of us have our regular drivers and I believe they are reliable.
Hotel Booking
There are plenty of hotels in CP, but for my own preference, I would prefer to stay those hotels that at the central of the town. The street that full with hotel is called ZhongYuan Jie (中元街).
The hotels that surrounding this street (or located at the street) are Huihua (汇华), Miraton (美怡登), Huatai (华泰, opposite), Virgin (君悦), Huimei (汇美), Lucky (好运), Lion (雄狮), ShengPing (升平). These are the recommended hotels, but of course there are other hotels on the street, like HuaYu (华宇), Federal (联邦), but those are a real cheapo version, which I do not recommend you to stay.
Huihua is the only 5 star hotel in CP, the room rate is about RMB330-400; Miraton is the highest classy among 4 star hotel, with 5 star facility (that is what they claim), so the price is about as same as Huihua, room rate RMB330-380; Huatai, Huimei and Virgin are the 4 star, the room rate is about RMB250-300; Lucky and ShengPing are 3 star, the room rate is about RMB150-200.
If you are not the regular and you book the hotel room yourself (either call or internet), very unlikely you can get the abovementioned rate, most of the hotels only offer 20% for the individual or the max up to 40%. For more discount, you may need to get the help from the agent, like XGX, that they can offer up to 50% discount.
For those bros who are not familiar, can also approach me.
Local Transport
In CP, you will see very less licensed taxi on the road. But you will see lots of the small van (or so called Bread Van, MianBao Che, 麵包車) running around. For roaming around CP town, the general pricing is RMB15 - 20. Actually the standard is only RMB 10 - 15, but you may have to argue a bit to get the lower price.
As a general guideline for newbie, if the traveling is less than 5 mins, pay RMB15, above it, pay RMB20.
By the way, no matter how far you go in CP, if you depart from ZhongYuan Jie, all the happening places should reachable the max 10 mins. If the driver takes beyond that, you pay need to be a bit careful (unless there is a traffic jam, but this hardly happen in CP)!
KTV
Here is the place where you can find the girls. Most of the KTV are inside or attached together with the hotel.
For the top 3 ktv in CP, the daily average of the girls are about 300. As at today, the ranking still remain unchanged as my last posting, where Jiayi remains the hottest, follow by Huihua and Bandao. Arguably, the next one on the ranking is either Huatai, Lion or Amazon. Then follow by the smaller KTV like HuiMei, Virgin, PP Club, New Century, Kang Cheng, which the MM is less than 200 in the daily average.
All the above KTV are 2-5-8. Meaning, RMB200 on sitting, 500 on sitting plus bring back ST, 800 on sitting plus overnight.
There are another type of KTV, the price is 1-2-5 or 1-3-6, as for newbie I would not encourage you to go to such places.
For the abovementioned KTV, the spending is quite standard, you will not receive the surprises on the bill. If you are the newbie, you don't really need to have the contacts. You may just walk in and book the room from the KTV reception. Upon entering to the KTV room, the DJ (or KJ) will explain to you about the spending, you may have to pay attention on the item pricing and order accordingly.
The good thing of having the contact is you can do the advance booking. Especially during the weekend, where most of the KTV will be fully booked, so advance booking is always needed. Another good thing that you can get from the contact is a discount, the general discount in CP KTV is between 10%-30%.
Except Jiayi and Amazon, for the rest of the KTV, the way of selecting the girl is the "traditional way", where the mummy brings the girls to the room for you to select. But Jiayi and Amazon are doing the different way, the girls are all line up at the corridor for you to pick. You may just walking and grasp the girls and bring it to your room when you found them.
All the abovementioned KTV is either located at the ZhongYuan Jie, or reachable by car in 10 mins. After all, CP is a very small and concentrated town (not like Shanghai nor Beijing).
