No of course not. I've been to dongguan so many times since early 2000 to know that we should never take things for granted. But I've also seen many younger bros (esp singaporeans n malaysians) do foolish things on a false sense of security.

Some bros think that $$$ will get them anywhere and anything and flash them like nobody's business, not only this makes u a target for crooks, it spoils the "market" n seasoned fellow cheongsters from hk/taiwan etc will ostracize us.

Some bros think that in cp ca everybody follow law like ppl at home.
This is China, doesn't mean u hold a foreign passport means it automatically protects u bcos locals will "give u face". If u get conned or a raw deal for whatever reasons, sometimes it's just best u swallow your pride, count your losses and move on quietly as a lesson learned. Nvr make a big hooha and "demand" service ... piss off the wrong guy u might get stabbed or worse


Some bros think the "pattern" they play with in BKK, Vietnam, SIngapore works in CP as well.
Respect the WL, they will repay u in kind. But NEVER trust any WL for whatever reasons.

Just to give you a bit of a background (hope I'm not gonna bore you etc) - but what it is that he and his group of friends are basically a group of customers well favored and catered to hand and feet by the managers/mommies etc at Di Hao as they ARE big swinging dicks spenders; those guys who'd drive up in limousines followed by another car full of bodyguards etc.

The few times I've gone with them - man - those vultures at that place were all practically on their knees as we walked in, trying to kiss our asses (as opposed to when I go with my regular friends, and one look at us...especially when we'd have Angmaos with us - they'd know that we ain't gonna be big spenders/ain't gonna be regulars...and treat us like we had the plague!).

Anyway, the information he got was from one of the mommies he supposedly trusts the most over there - and he thinks that for her to be warning him, when by all rights she should be wanting him to come and spend $$ like he always does - well.... this must be pretty good info.

But then he also received calls from his other managers/mommies reconfirming that the "coast" is supposedly clear! So he doesn't know what to think....and is asking me!! As if I knew anything better!! Sigh....!!!

Anyway, I told him that its better to be safe than sorry during this very uncertain times! But he's still wanting me to try to find out more and thus this quite lame post.....!!

Sorry and if anybody can give us some input...I'd really appreciate it.

Better safe than sorry. Me thinks that the local govt is under pressure to catch some high profile "big fish" to show that they r not incompetent. A bunch of "big shots" would probably make a good show of their efforts.

Anyway ... i never trust any mgr or mummies ... if something bad happens they will just "jump ship" or run back to their province leaving u to your fate

My friend is just a quite wealthy owner of several factories in China and his group of friends are mostly other wealthier guys from Hong Kong - thus their penchant for bodyguards etc. But they also take pains to NOT get embroiled in politics and/or refrain as much as possible from exposing themselves to corrupt demands. Yes, they know that money can and do solve just about all problems in China - but the bigger you are, the larger the amounts of money. Plus this yanda involves LE from other parts of DGG and thus not so easy to deal with.

Something which I had reminded him of - especially since it only concerns just partying/socializing. As such, he's decided to move his party tonight to Macau instead!! Quite unfortunate that I will not be able to join!!
