Its not as bad as it sounds in fact Songkran is quite a fun time to be in Thailand. The Thai's fun loving "sanook" nature will be at its best during this time. So look forward to the trip and like I always say... bpai teow muang thai sanook gap choke dee naa!

I dont go Phuket anymore. I still love the place coz of its beauty (away from Patong) and it hold many memories (and mammories!) as it was my first ever taste of Thailand but the place has priced itself out of the tourist market and just not worth it anymore since Juncelyon was built.

Prices in Phuket (apple to apple) can be as high as 3x of pattaya!

FYI , My Pattaya trip is after 13-15th but I will hit Pattaya a few days before the 19th.

Low season is coming and there are bound to be changes in Pattaya. The more the local mayor try to clean up the place , the more the bars flourish! There is local crackdown on prostitution and already one Boyztown agogo owner has already been hauled up to the police station for tomyum soup and bread.

Peppermint's lease is up and will move downstairs. Meanwhile , i assume the girls will go work in sister clubs Happy , Beach Club and affliliate Baccara. The space Peppermint is occupying now will be an extension of Marine Disco. Peppermint's group also bought Sisterz so it be interesting to see if they become the King's Group of Pattaya; hope they dont bring in Katoeys like Kings!

If you talk to some of the girls , especially FLers , some will tell you about Orchard Towers and off course the Thai Discos in Singapore. This is becasue a lot of them in the pattaya scene come here during low season to make more money.

A lot of smaller bars and agogos are springing up all the time all over the place and as usual , i recommend tourist staying longer than 5 days to check out the other areas.

However Walking street is still the place to be for short-trippers





Thanks to all those up and down me. It actually doesnt make any difference even if I am negative. Point cant buy me another trip to Pattaya!

I want to thank everyone who put up solid information about Pattaya, from taking Bell Buses, to where to stay, to the prices you can expect. I went couple of weeks ago and it all helped a LOT.

I agree with bros here- better than Phuket, unless you are purely beach lover- then Phuket better than Pattaya.

Pattaya has more of everything- gogo batrs, girls, beach, shops, tourist attractions, more..err..cheap prices


One thing I disagree on- the girls I saw weren't very pretty. Mostly they looked worn out and tired. The only pretty ones I saw worked in non sex ttrade- shop staff, hotel staff. Even the female hawker aunties looked less coarse sometimes than the ho's. That's just my opinion tho. I'm guessing the experts here know how to sort out the gems from the cows.

Just curious which places did u go tat u found the girls "not so pretty"? BTW r u "farang" coz most girls in Pattaya tend to lean towards their tastes i.e. darker skin but there are Jap & Korean centered joints that have girls Asian prefer - fair skin SYTs.

I noticed all the girls when I walked around and inside a couple of gogo bars I went into. I didn't know about the lighter skinned girls for the Koreans and Japanese though. I only read the previous 15 pages, so I guess I missed some things. I am still the student, and have much to learn from the masters

Btw, I'm Chinese, not angmoh/farang/laowai/gwailo

I partly agree with you that also in Pattaya most girls are a bit too old. So if you go to bars or discos, you need good eyes to pick up the few young ones (and sometimes pick them up early). But at least (if you don't find in bier bars, I ended more than often in Gogos around 1 am!) you can go to Gogo bars and find young talents there, for a price which is still reasonable, 1500/2000 ST, 2000/2500 LT. In Phuket, even gogo bars may be hopeless on this criteria, and prices are +500 to +1000 compared to Pattaya prices.

You can try Peppermint. I saw some fair-skinned babes during my last trip there n Dec. But understand that the lease is up, and they are moving downstairs. Not sure if they had. U may need to find out more from the more experience Patts cheongsters here. That's all I can help.
