Babel is already whining about not enough playing time. I can't believe he thinks that he has improved. At many times this season, he seemed to be playing for the opposition. OK he has made some contributions as well but been far too inconsistent even as a sub.
the player u r talking about is robbie keane!!! LOL

however, i dont agree with u. i would prefer a true blue out-and-out striker. someone who can run at defences and someone who could hold the ball up as well. dont think i want to see a flexible player. just like cross-trainers r not good enough for any kind of sports... oh, i still maintain, as always, 4-2-3-1 is the best formation cos liverpool has the players to excel in their positions.

hmm... how about a torres clone??? was thinking of david villa but he is gonna be too expensive. eto'o would be a perfect fit actually... but with his kind of character, i m just worried that he would affect the dressing room mood if he is not getting enough playing time.

oh yes, can someone just tell babel and agger to shut the hell up??? riera and skrtel r playing too well for the 2 jokers to displace their starting place...

That's the problem bro, neither of those players will want to sit on the bench because they can't play another position/role, unless we want to play 4-4-2 at home. Even so, don't think big name strikers like Eto'o or Villa would be happy to stay on the bench in away matches. So the only way is to...accommodate by getting players that can fill supporting positions.

Pretty sure there is someone else other than Keano hehehe.

eto'o will still be affordable, but not villa. think only man city and 2009 champs league champs barcelona can afford villa. but on the bright side, an established world class striker would keep torres on his toes.

no longer would benitez have to endure his baby temperament, just like the recent chelsea game. i just cant understand why he almost always disappears in games when gerrard is not playing. worse still, it seems he always act like it is everyone else's fault when he is not playing well. is it that gerrard would screw him upside down when torres is not giving his all???

i know i will draw a lot of criticism for this but IMHO, torres has not behaved enough to say he is the best no.9 in years. eto'o would easily keep torres out of the starting eleven bcos eto'o can certainly match torres in ability and more. eto'o's running off the ball is certainly one of the best in the world. this might lead to torres wanting to leave, or wake up his idea... which in both cases, either liverpool would have a very eager and hardworking strikeforce, or a big windfall. both also good for the club what...

i also dont know about zarate. but riera taught me that while he might not be good enough for man city, he is certainly good enough for liverpool.

Bro that's a bit harsh on Torres, I thought he was jaded and tired in the Chelsea match. I do remember one away match last season when Torres played out of his skin with Stevie injured and we drew or lost.

But I take your point about keeping him on his toes. We do need competition for the striking role, or at least someone to step in when Torres is injured or jaded. Eto'o at this late stage of his career is not the right guy I fear.

BAD NEWS FOR LIVERPOOL SUPPORTERS

Liverpool have confirmed Steven Gerrard will miss the Premier League match with Arsenal on Tuesday after being ruled out for at least one more week with an adductor injury.
The Liverpool skipper aggravated the problem ahead of the the Champions League encounter with Chelsea on Tuesday, forcing him to sit out the second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge.

oh shucks ... tt's bad news but rmbr we did so well w/o SG when we played Cheatski last wk.

i thk we hv a gd chance to beat Arse, who r having a long list of injuries. hopefully d FA Cup tie will give them more injuries. N better still if d game goes into ET n penalties.

there were so many times in this season that he looked really disinterested when gerrard wasnt playing. i dont know about others, but even the liverpool no.9 is supposed to defend from the front, benchmarked by ian rush. time will tell, but i was really disappointed with him in the 4-4 draw with chelsea. but alas, i cannot expect everyone to play like kuyt.

eto'o is only 28 years old. from what i see from the barcelona match now (half-time against getafe), he is still very fast and very fit.

gerrard not playing is really bad news. arsenal looked good. chelsea had to resort to diving again... damn!!! i would expect drogba and malouda to dive, but not john terry.

mascherano need to be at his best to stop the midfielders from playing their normal passing game. but on a bright note, the arsenal defence is very wobbly. and the goalie was very inconsistent. he was good in the champs league match but he was woeful against chelsea.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Althought he was disappointed in the Chelsea game, but dun forget his main role is to score goals. And when the supporting players are not doing enough, he must be frustrated too by needing to create chances all by himself.

Eto wil be a good signing if Liverpool are able to afford him.
Liverpool really need another striker in case Torres & Gerrard is injured, & will keep the competition for the place hot up.

Hopefully the Gunners' keeper will do likewise in the Tuesday game.

no offence meant if any, bro.

if the supporting players r not doing enough, does that mean that they r not putting their all into those games??? sometimes things go well, and sometimes they dont. but effort and determination is always present when the results r positive. thus, i feel that regardless of positive or negative returns, effort and determination has to be put in. otherwise, there is no chance of success.

i do play sports, and competitively when i was much younger. i know of good buddies who, until now, would switch off and not put in the effort if we r not in the same team. i see torres as the same kid, with gerrard taking him under his wing. this should not be the case here. and it is very unfair to blame it on his teammates for not performing. shouldnt it be the case that he has to play his best, regardless??? look at jamie carragher... he tries his best in every single game, even when he scores own goals, it is bcos he tries too hard or bcos he is the first one to try to stop attacks.

i dont blames my buddies cos they can hide under the familarity blanket. for torres, he does not have the luxury to do so. i dont know... if he plays well without gerrard, then shouldnt that translate to him playing even better when gerrard is back in the team???

eto'o, i strongly suggest him cos i believe he is probably the only player to be able to keep torres on the bench, even when torres is fully fit. can u suggest anyone else. when that happens, only then we can see torres is going snatch his place back or move on.

as for the transfer fee, eto'o contract expires in june 2010. he should go cheap. oh, a little birdie told me that eto'o ever said he wanted to join liverpool bcos of the fan support, and also that he will not extend his current contract with barca. i m very hopeful that things will fall into place and next season would be even better than this season for liverpool.

cheers. YNWA.

Bro, I don't think so la, why? Torres was captain of Atletico, surrounded by mediocre players. I do agree he can be hot and cold sometimes. Remember when we crashed at Boro earlier, both he and Stevie were junk hehehe.

oh, i remember!!! i remembered it very well!!! it was the game that i saw gerrard lose the ball just outside the opposition penalty box, and then he gave that resigned look at the sky... like blaming the heavens... INSTEAD OF CHASING BACK THE BALL!!! oh i remember, and i remember that they really deserved to lose that match.

maybe i m still stuck in the 80s... too used to the liverpool players giving their all!!! were they all world class players??? not all, just a handful. then, everton were able to attract all the better players. but liverpool played for one another on the field. no one was too valuable to help defend. when players dont do well, they would try to help out more in other areas. dogged determination and effort. a true-blue working class team.

I do hope to win the title this season too. Just don't see Kenny ever becoming our manager again. 18 yrs ago (if I remember correctly), he quit with the reason that it's just too stressful to manage Liverpool. Since then, the game became faster, more games like Champions League. I just don't see how he can handle stress better now than 18 years ago.

I actually think Arsenal will field a weakened team to play against us. 8 points ahead of 5th place Villa with 6 games to go, I think they will conserve energy and prevent injuries by fielding their 2nd stringers. They do have the Champions League semis coming up. If not for their goalie, I think they would have made it to the FA cup final.
