Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
This part I can never understand. Why do punters still bet on us? If anything, we have been consistently inconsistent.
I think, after so many seasons, everyone should know betting on Liverpool is like riding on a rollercoaster. Full of ups and downs. Can't be you know our results are like that, you chose to continue to bet on us and then complain when results don't come your way. Sometimes when I wear my jersey, some uncle will come up to me to complain (esp when I queue up to buy 4D). I will tell them how I feel too. Uncle, go buy Arsenal lar, they play football to win. Liverpool play football not to lose. If the match is heading for a draw, our coach won't try to win it. He will just settle for 1 point and talk about possibilities.

I ever had this conversation with this shop owner who can't help complaining to me after he saw the Liverpool jersey I was wearing. I felt pitiful for him after he shared his points. He said he went to check the internet for news about Gerrard and Torres. Both are uninjured. So he assumed both will play and bought Liverpool to win by 1 and 1/2 goals. Then to his shock, when he watched the match, both of them are on the bench. Our team struggled to beat the other team by 1 goal. So he lost! Haha... Rafa probably did well in our eyes because he rested key players and yet won. But for the punter ah... A common question is why Rafa doesn't seem to always want to play his strongest 11. Even against Man U, to see Babel, Benayoun and Aquilani on the bench, it gives you the feeling that we are happy with a draw and not going out for a win. Punter see already very sian.

i may be a punter but i never bet against Pool. nor do i usually place bets on a Pool win cos 1) pool is too inconsistent. they tend to perform d opposite of what u bet, n obviously being a Pool fan, u wont bet on them to lose/draw. 2) odds on Pool pathetically low even tho they play lower teams on supposedly tricky grounds. (eg when they play Wigan away, odds was only like 1.4-1.5) Lest it's d top 3, else it's usually Pool -1.5. It's not easy to clear -1.5 for Pool this season, esp w/o the firepower of SG n Torres for so many games. like bro see see only said, i too sometimes bet more from the heart. like in certain big matches or those which i have a 'strong feel' Took a patriotic bet on Pool to beat MU last wk n lost tho. sorry to skive fr d usual discussions. when u guys talk abt betting, it makes me all excited. well, onli left 7 matches n not many left to bet. tonight will make a bet on exact score Pool 3-1 n -1.5.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Just came back from dinner with a close friend. He's my die-hard liverpool kaki in the army days from a long time back. His views are quite shocking but interesting and it left me thinking. He even visited Anfield for his honeymoon.
He was telling me he hoped that, we won't qualify for anything next season, not even Europa league. The reason he gave was that when the 2 American idiots piled the club with so much debt, they must have assumed that we will qualify for Champion's League every year. The money from CL should help them repay their yearly debt instalments. By not qualifying, the banks may force the 2 idiots to pay down more of the debt. He also hoped that no private equity company will then buy over 25% of the club for $100 million, as widely speculated. Maybe the debts will force the 2 idiots out. (Fat hope I think). He feels that qualifying for next season's CL might be seen as 'acceptable progress' for this season. If there is progress, change is less likely to come as there is less incentive to change. Change tends to follow failure. So if we have to take 1 step back to get rid of the owners, failure to qualify for any European action next season may not be a bad thing. In order for us not to qualify for anything, the results of our last 7 matches will have to be quite bad. I personally can't watch our match and hope we don't get a good result. As a fan, it's hard to accept that we can watch a match and hope the results aren't good. But he does makes sense in some parts. What about you guys? Qualify or don't qualify better? He also mentioned that we shouldn't buy any Liverpool merchandise till the 2 idiots are out. Just imagine, if you buy a jersey, where will the profit goes to? A new stadium, better players or maybe to the 2 idiots who will then use it to repay their loan? Are we then supporting the club or supporting the 2 idiots's debt? Sigh... Life was much simpler than our front logo was Candy... Have you guys met any dis-illusioned Liverpool friends/fan recently?

Quote:
RBS & Wach wants Pool to repay another £100m (no doubt to secure their own interests should Pool fail to make Champions League next season). Gillette & Hicks purchased LFC in 2007, sinking in about £60m or more, whilst taking on bank loans of about £240 million. Interest alone on the bank loans amounted to £36.5m out of the £42.6m loss that Kop Holdings declared in May 2009. The total amount of debt according to some reports amount to some £237m. The inability of the owners to stump up the cash for a new stadium means that LFC is unable to generate additional gate receipts unlike the other top clubs, which have either completed and moved over to new stadiums or have made plans to expand seating in their grounds. Ok so let's rationalise. The banks want £100m back in summer. New stadium will cost say another £300m or more, depending on how grand and nice it will be. We've got G & H trying to punt their shares in KHL to middle eastern types for a nice tidy profit, no doubt. Rafa's not getting any help in terms of funding for new signings since his targets have often underperformed. Results on the pitch certainly don't justify the owners finding the funds for him. Add that to a Rafa who is running out of euphemisms for "We don't have the money to buy solid players" and "Players buay song me leh. How?", a changing room that probably has one of the most depressing atmospheres, a squad of players who can't quite find the cohesiveness that one expects from a top side AND lastly, the club owes shitloads of money and has very limited means of paying it off. New investors who have deep pockets will need to be found. Likewise, a top quality coach who can play the mind games and with a keen strategic mind, and who can also draw out the best in the squad (like a certain Mr. M). The current situation is untenable. In my opinion, it will be death by gradual poisoning. Until the glories of the past are a faded red, repeated with gusto by old men over their pints, who still live in the past. I want to believe in the Reds, the proud tradition and a glorious future. But I just can't see it with how things are now. Especially since the brits are braying that RBS shouldn't refinance LFC's debt. Liverpool fans threaten RBS over loan refinance I hope that I'm wrong.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I have always reiterated here that it will be better to be out of the CL position in order to get rid of the management team including RB (of cos there are ppl who "begs" to differ but i couldnt care less )
Its better to pain this season & fight for the next one rather than scrambling to 4th this season & the next season & on & on..whats the point Liverpool is not like other top teams who plays to qualify for CL every season, instead we need to be winning them - & the only way i see is get rid of RB first & then the owners Cos we havent got the monies in the bank...i believe it has been used to improve their NHL & NFL teams tough. In America, the biggest sport is still Basketball, baseball, NFL & Ice-hockey, so i think they did not put in their efforts on Liverpool ..Not to mention RB screwed up too ..
