yes, RH definitely looks like an old sly fox when comes to dealing with the press.... Danny Wilson is a central defender who was linked to us before rafa left, make me wonder was he signed before or after RH comes in, but dun care lar, he seems to have a great propects... our central defense will be well covered: carragher, agger, sketrl, ayala (if he's still sround), soto (guess he will be the one get sold), kelly (may end up covering right back?)..

good to see RH trying to sell off some fringe players who are not making any impact... hope young players like kelly, darby can step up to cover if johnson is injured...

rumour tat he's trying to sell ngog for 6mil....??!! tat'll be some biz!!! haha... but we do need to sign a new striker...

finally, we see some movement in the transfer market...

btw, we're playing friendly vs Grasshopper tonite... may catch it online to see some of our young players in action... Thomas Ince (son of Paul Ince) has been singled out recently, hope to see him too...

Hmm this is interesting...

The new Kop boss is hoping to see the temperamental winger in action in this evening's clash with Grasshoppers and attempted to downplay talk of a move to Greece in light of Emiliano Insua's imminent departure to Fiorentina.

He said: "I've hardly seen him play at all. I'll only have an opinion about him.

"That will be more informed when I've seen him play but at the moment some players like Insua, or Riera, decisions were made about what will happen to them last season and really, I'm coming in on the back of it."

Seems like Insua move to fio is off. I may be wrong but this is latest news coming out from anfield. And also degan is asked to look for another club. Good riddance I'd say just like ponytail voronin.

If insua stays, we need a right back for cover but then again, I'm hoping that RH take this season and blood some youngsters like Martin Kelly, pacheco, nemeth, ince (Paul ince's son), ayala, shelvy, Wilson etc. We need some young blood coming in knowing that gerrard, carragher who are life long reds do not have many more playing years ahead.

i think RH priority is LB and a defensive mid (if macherano leaves, as expected?)...

with the limited budget, i guess he may just try to use jovanovic, babel, kuyt, ngog or some other youngster to cover torres...

a typical pre-season friendly match... unfamiliar line up and not much action...
every player was given some playing time, except riera.. guess not to risk any injury which may affect his transfer to Olympiacos (we'll suffer a big loss in transfer fee, but need to generate some transfer n wages budget) ...

actually 2 players caught my eyes:

degen - he has proved RH right to release him. was skinned by their attackers not only once. made their right forward look world class. if RH played him to attract potential buyers, then it has backfired. should give other youngster a chance next game.

ayala - a superb display and he's only 19!! did not put a single foot wrong. we'll regret if we let him leave. together with signing of wilson, we're having a pair of 19 yo defenders with hugh potential.

amoo n eccleston showed some pace on the flanks but not much end product. kelly n darby played reasonably well. regulars like lucas, aquaman & ngog were disappointed, but it was just the 1st pre-season friendly, ao nothing to worry about yet...

hmmm ... Pool's pre-season friendlies are often disappointing. it may not count much but it does give the team n fans some confidence with some positive results. hope to see some big wins soon. (not against kuching kurak teams like Lions or some conference league teams though! )

Good to hear - have read that Ayala is a cool customer in defence.

Btw who is going to play our Europa Cup qualifying tie? Dani Pacheco and some other young players are still at the U19 championships which are until the end of the month. And Roy is not playing the World Cup stars.
