According to my javanese friend who believe in both white and black magic, toyols, kumantong are actually jinns or genies. They are actually huge and tall by nature. They speaks tongue and exist in every tribe or races. They have the power to transform into toyol or kumantong. They can possess living things, humans, animals etc. Jinn exist in another world but have the privilege to exist in our world. They can see us but we cant see them unless we can unlock the secret or under the wing of a powerful master.

U ever wonder why bomoh, priest uses kemenyan or incense to conjure jinn or spirits? Incense are also "food" for the jinn.
