I will open my door, pass whatever money I deem he deserves, get out of the taxi, and walk to the lobby. By the time, he takes out his safety belt, open the door and chase after me, I am inside the hotel lobby.

No matters how bastard the taxi driver is, he dun dare to do anything in the lobby. Anyway, most driver will take the money u given him and go. If he wants to make a big hoo haa in the lobby, let the hotel staffs take care of him.

For Bros' info, I was on way to airport. Drivers clever too, will not do this in hotel lobby.
When i reach airport, Thai airway staff was already looking for me with Tourist Police tagging behind; my Thai friend called someone "big", according to him. I am glad to be in one piece and I want to return to BKK (many times more in 1 piece)

Make a long storey short, I kena once during wee morning hours when taxi on his meter when he reach hotel (5-star Marriot affiliate property); halfway he off meter and told me highway not many cars and ask for money; i asked him to on meter, he said can but he must go back to my hotel and on and restart again....
So I said OK but SMS my Thai friend, he gave me instructions and i followed.......eventually I made report at Tourist Police, my hotel also followed up my case........BUT that driver was using another person's taxi.....so the owner got into deep shit instead. Such is life.

Have tried him a few times, reliable; always arrived earlier than me.
But bros are advised to give him 4-5 hrs notice as he has corporate clients as well.

BKK hotel to Suva Airport for 300b is not cheap. Usually I pay around 250b (excluding highway)
And it isn't necessary to phone a cab to go airport I mean just tip the bellboy or walk to road and taxis are a dime a dozen. BKK taxis are way much better than KL taxis where you have much higher chance of getting overcharged (withour using meter), scammed or getting robbed. BKK taxis are saints compared those KL taxis. With KL taxis you get all kinds of rubbish, unprofessionalism, bad filthy dirty taxis and scammers here and there. While there are some bad hats BKK taxis, they are way much better than KL taxis
Worst is have to make appointment with taxi and then wait here and there but he does not turn up for some reason why you see tonnes of taxi going by but you cannot stop the taxis and you are running late for airport. If his taxi is a"sexi" that comes with hot sexy puying you can pay to papow in a backseat bed on your way to airport I will call him for sure

Yes agreed KL has the worst taxi service and 2nd is Sillypore! Called LTA's so called "complain hotline" so many times - totally USELESS!!!

Bangkok as long u dun take the taxis loitering outside your hotels or at tourist attractions you are safe. So far in my 15 years traveling to Bangkok only kana scammed once, meter was rigged, from airport to my apartment usually Bht230-250 but that day was like extra Bht100!
