Right now, we do have at least 2 quality players in each positions.

LB - Jose Enrique and Moreno
RB - Glen Johnson and Manquillo
CB - Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho and Toure

Jon Flanagan can cover both flanks but I see him more as a long term replacement for Glen Johnson.

Agree that BR has done something to address the problematic defence issues. However the first 3 epl matches of this season don't seem to bode well in this regard. Also what about the performance of the Reds defensive midfielder (s)?

To be fair though, it's early days, and the new players still need time to gel. Perhaps by end of October/early November we shall see the end product, which I really hope is a stronger tighter defence and an overall more balanced team.

thanks...I saw some good play with our defence in the last game against Spurs...to me Lovren, Manquilo and Moreno played really well...think this defence will do well and be awesome...wait till CL games starts...

On the Spurs match, think I may have to agree to disagree with you abit though. Yes Manquillo and Moreno looked pretty good but Lovren did not appear that comfortable. Also interesting you left out Sakho's name because he looked awful! Moreover SG had a mediocre turnout as a DM.

Sakho is well known French International...he played decent enough...Skrtel will replace him when he returns from injury...

Hypia/Henchoz partnership was cristicized by many those days decades ago...but they are now our legends...so it took a while...

I dun think Lovren played well... he was shifted to right CB, but there're times he drifted back to his usual left side and went for the same ball as Sakho... but he improved as the game went on... did have few real good interception...

As for Sakho, I still think he will come good... he is ex-captain of PSG and 1st choice of France (ahead of Man C's 30 mil latest signing) not for no reason....

I dun classify SG as a DM, he is more of a deep laying playmaker, he needs another DM to do the dirty job, he no longer have the legs to do so already...

Just spotted an interesting article on summer14' transfer deals.

It seems Di Maria, David Luiz(surprise, not!) and Jaime Rodriguez's transfers are assesed to have been overvalued, whereas both Suarez and Balotelli transfers together with Diego Costa's transfer are assesed to have been undervalued.

I love SG as a player and as a captain.Always leading the team by example on and off the field. But we have to realise that SG is not getting younger any more. He doesn't have the legs to chase after the ball especially when you are playing such a high line. He is much better as an AM. Emre Can & Henderson can be used as DM.

Probably VV need special permission from the BPL committee since the transfer deadline is close. Just hope it is not another Loic Remy case. Liverpool surely need another stopper.

Free agent dun have to follow the transfer deadline.... they can sign on anytime.
