Wanyama was the difference for Southampton as Liverpool's midfield was unable to compete with his physical presence.

Coutinho grew tired early in the second half while both Lallana and Origi were out of ideas. Flanagan was not impressive.

Unbelievable miss from Benteke which could have made the difference in the game. We still have 2 games in hand and must win to reach 50 points.

Skrtel was poor in defence n Mane is good n took his chances well.

And what can I say about Benteke??? Hopeless!!!!!

Could have been in contention for 4th place but now, sitting happily far below.

TL n sick are the words to describe my mood after the match finished.
Liverpool brought us to heaven, then to hell.
The footballing Gods were kind enough to bless Mignolet with a penalty save, but how on earth did Pool collapse and conceded 3 goals in the 2H???
Very disappointed indeed. We could have drawn level on points with devils and leapfrog over Sotong but now we need to sweat for points again.

On hindsight Skrtel should not have played this match.... he is not fully recovered nor match fit and his mistakes led to 2 of Soton's goals.

Skrtel is still recovering and for a 31 years old the recovery takes time. I thought Klopp made a wrong decision replacing Lovren w Skrtel.

Look at his last match with under 21s he is still not ready.

I will put the entire blame on Klopp! Should have jolly well know that Skrtel was not match fit @all after laying off for 3mths+...
Got his tactics all wrong in the 2nd half! Could have sensed something wasn't right after soton got a penalty n scored soon after.
Wanyama n Mane literally tore pool apart in the 2nd half.

Great first half. Awful second half. Yes Lovren was on a yellow, but I would have risked him rather than bringing an unfit Skrtel on away from home against Southampton.

Southampton did well in the second half, but we made it so easy for them to score. Skrtel showing once again that when he is in the back four, everyone crumbles. He isn't suited to the way we defend. He doesn't even really have a style of defending. He isn't strong, he's never on the front foot, and when he tries to be, he always makes a mistake and leaves holes in the defence.

I don't think Klopp reacted that well today either, throughout the game. They bring on Wanyama to win the midfield battle, so we bring on Benteke. Strange. That token captain's armband for Flanagan was probably a bad choice to start with as well.

Positives: Good goals from us. Allen looked very good in the first half. Origi is getting better and better.

Guess its never easy being a Liverpool supporter!
