Take a trip to Pai and Maehongson (I can be your online guide)
Go to the highest peak in Thailand- Doi Inthanon National Park (limited visitor to enter, have to go early)

IMO Dusit D2 is just another pricey hotel to reside. Given it's location at Changklan, there's nothing interesting things to see/view when you wake in the morning beside having foxy lady just situated behind the hotel, about 2 mins walk, typical night bazaar that all over thailand has, Starbuck and 24 hrs burger king restaurant, not to forget about 10 mins walk to the entertainment complex.

Before Im residing at Mae Taeng, last two year ago during loy krantong or Ying Peng, I'm been residing at very cosy, nice scenery plus reasonable price too.
Not to sure if bros here ever heard of Butterfly resort. For about 86sgd per night, you can stay at superior room. Hard to describe in words, maybe goggle image can tell bros how the wonderful place is. But just too bad, this resort has been torn down last year Dec, not sure why is it so. One downside is you need a car or at least a motorcycle in order to move around freely. Not to forget, ping river is just 50m away from the resort so no need to go to the riverside just to float your krantong.

Actually there's alot of nice and reasonable price hotel/resort that CNX has, but again depends on what is your purpose visiting CNX.

As for Wat/temple visit beside the famous mountain golden stupa, Doi suthep, there's other good temple to see, wat chedi is one of them.

The night bazaar that selling typical thing what normally night bazaar in Thailand selling except for a thing or two that are sold are hand made from the long neck tribe. I'm strongly suggest to go for the Sunday bazaar, which offers better thing compare to the Changklan night bazaar.

Beside that cnx has zoo, waterfall, rafting, spring water, x-treme centre so your days staying here won't get too bored.

Last but not least, IMO, CNX pooyings is much more approachable compare to the urbanize Krung Thep.

Wa, good for u n ur buddy, 恭喜你们... As u will have free local guide to bring u to the good places... As if u go to Pai, there is also a Lisu Village there n the ppl there can speak chinese just like us... N if u go to the night bazaar in Pai there have a nice fair looking Lady selling the small n cute doll just from there as my friend izzt one of the trademark there... But she is married n own the intner-shop just nearby... Hope u enjoy Pai more than Mae Hong Son (MHS)

As I also agree Dusit D2 is a nice place if u going with GF or Wife as most of the time we r out walk n looking, so izzt abit waste of $$$...

5555+ no la, there's bros in the forum knows here even well, I'm just a newbie starting to explore here and there.

Here cheap, not that expensive compare residing in BKK, and my saving is getting lesser from day to day.

I'm afraid, my gf's friends all are '' tamada tamada pooying na'' and majority of them attached and like to have gig here and there. Best is to go walk walk at night bazaar on Sunday night and say hi to the pooying there, I'm sure your hi will get reciprocate back.

Anyway, work is done and I am only here for a very short stay. So no chance to go to the MP for R&R. Only go to the proper one outside the hotel.

Managed to squeeze in a short trip and saw the white temple. I must say...... a most beautiful and most unusual temple. All white except the toilet which is gold. And there are weird modern sculptures around the place. I think one of them is predator from the movies.

Next trip to CM will plan better for R&R.

The White temple is sure something different. I usually go to that temple when I travel to Chiang Rai. Been there twice, and very interesting. The only temple that has Spiderman, Super Heroes, Transformer, etc.. painted inside the temple wall. And you will constantly hear a speaker broadcast from the owner of the temple telling ppl to leave the temple once done visiting, so as not to conjest the flow of the crowd.
