American man dies during surgery at Saigon beauty clinic: police

Officers suspect that he died of anaphylactic shock while undergoing lyposuction.

Police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating the death of an American man who reportedly suffered seizures during surgery at a local clinic on Wednesday afternoon.

An initial investigation found the man, of around 60 years old, visited the clinic on Su Van Hanh Street in District 10 to have liposuction around his hip, a procedure to remove fat from the body.

During the procedure he went into a fit and died shortly after.

Officers suspect that he suffered an anaphylactic shock.

The clinic is a well-known destination licensed for cosmetic surgery in the city. Its owner, Doctor Nguyen Viet Thanh, is a respected expert in the field.

It’s not the first time plastic surgery has gone fatally wrong in Vietnam.

In October 2013, a woman in Hanoi died during a liposuction and breast enhancement procedure. Her surgeon was sentenced to 19 years in jail in December 2014 for malpractice and dumping her body into a river.

Different day, same story: Make sure you leave early for a chance of making your flight on time.


Vehicles were sandwiched side by side and moving at a snail’s pace on all major streets leading to Tan Son Nhat Airport from morning to noon on Thursday.

Truong Son Street looked like a parking lot with motorbikes and cars stretching back for 2 kilometers.

The serious congestion affected other streets nearby. This was Hoang Van Thu this morning.

Not surprising, even in developed cuntries such incidents happened due to severe allergic reactions

is it better to go to the domstic airport and walk over to the international airport ?
