While I hope and I believe similarly many other bros do too that AC will return to normal one day..... I doubt that day will ever return again. Go read the press release by the Office of the Department of Justice on the steps the PI government is taking to improve on its Tier 2 rating by the US Commission on Human Trafficking.

The statements by the spokeswoman leaves no doubt in my mind that the PI Government is determined to see through the current crackdown to the satisfaction of the US Commission...... whilst they cannot totally eradicate the exploitation of their women..... they will do their utmost to see it reduced to a level not so obvious to outsiders.

On the other hand..... the current Mayor (not me) of AC is attempting to squeeze whatever he can out from the bars before the demise of AC as we know it currently...... his Office has issued a guideline on the new fees structure payable by the bars to remain in business. Also included are hotel tariffs and trike fees increases and alcohol (40%) + BIR (18%) taxes.

From 1st January 2014, City Hall will only issue licenses for 40 bars to operate in an enclosed area to be demarcated by the Mayors' Office for easy monitoring and enforcement.

40% increase in the price of a drink. That sounds bad. It will get more expensive than Thailand if that is so... If what Mayor is saying is right, then that sounds very bad.

40 bars I can live with, and some higher trike fees, You pretty much only have 40ish bars anyway. And lots of bars can even be merged from 2 into 1. Just off the top of my head: Carousel/Genesis, Devilwitch/neighbour bar. And you can knock down several walls between some of the other bars and merge 2 or even 3 into 1.

But the hotel and drink charges are the main expenses on my budgetet trips...

I had only been to AC once and I enjoy my time there. Like I said, I am only sharing some info I knew. The info was not told directly to me but from a policeman to his son then to this son's frd who is my colleague. Since I heard from here that filipinos will less likely to bullshit their own kind and is his son somemore so I guess there should be some truth in the info I received. Maybe the information by you guys who are on the ground might be more accurate. Of cause as a cheongster, I also hope this crazy situation will change for the better.

Shit, if even half of what will be implimented comes true then AC is forever changed and f**ked.
Just 40 bars will remain in business and the 40 bars that somehow survive the cut then already KNOW FOR A FACT the prices will skyrocket as all the new taxes and rules along with ( of course more expensive payoffs to stay in business) will be past on to the customer. Less girls to choose from and more money for those that remain. The future of AC looks dim.

Thanks for the input. But let me point out an important factor. The current situation in AC and other raids occurring in other PI provinces are conducted on a much higher National level and most often dont even involve the local cops (and if local cops are involve they are used more as lookouts or for securing the area). Only the Federal police and LE on a higher level knows exactly the extent of what is going on and what will go on in the future. The mandates are coming from higher govt and not the local govt. Local cops usually will only be told on a last min basis and just before a raid.

Is your colleague friend's father the Director of the PNP? Unless he is, I would hesitate to take the words of a lowly policeman as I heard the current crackdown involves several different groups of the Philippines government. In some of the raids, even the local police were not involved nor aware until the raid has commenced.

As for Filipinos bullshit on their own kind, having worked with and employed Filipinos and Filipinas...... I would rank them as up there among the elites when it comes to bola bola.. They are so experts in telling lies and cooking up stories.
I certainly hope the situation in AC would settle down but until it does, I am giving that place a wide berth.
