So where are you really from, khuya? Dont think I've ever met a Singaporean who could spell 'Singapore' any other way...

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Just concluded a 3D2N quick trip to AC, only my 4th or 5th visit there since 2006. Pleased to see that the novelty of the place hasn't worn off for me.

Me: late 30s S'porean, expatriate in HCMC, Vietnam. Not-so-secret Philippines and Indonesia cheongster, usually preferring Manila and Jakarta respectively, having made multiple visits every year to both in the last 6 years.

Don't have much to report on, nor would like to repeat information that has already been mentioned on this thread.

Except:

Beware of Runner and Thief named 'Yumi' from Dollhouse Bar.

Real name on Entertainer ID - read it but unfortunately cant recall. Claimed to be 23 and from Manila. Spinner, small saggy tits which you won't see under her bikini. PHP 3000 BF category. Showed me a picture of a baby son, fathered by a Korean customer from the Puerto Galera/Sabang gogo bars on a ONS where she claimed to have worked in the past. Son is being taken care of by her mother in Manila. Also claimed to have done one tour in KL but was refused entry and turned back on her second visit. Claimed to have permanent travel ban to Malaysia stamped in passport. Subsequently came to work in AC.

Promised to stay LT during interview and was convincing enough even to a cynical old guy like me. Back in room however, put on her clothes after 1st shot. Also stole candy from hotel room (Royal Amsterdam has a tray of candy and toiletries for sale, placed on top of fridge) amounting to around PHP 400. Money is not the issue but a matter of principle. Taking without asking in this case is tantamount to theft. I did not find out until check out, so it was a not-so-nice parting gift for me from AC.

Had a total of 3 BFs brought to room. The remaining two - one was already falling down drunk when BF'd and did not carry a handbag, the other was known to one in our group - a senior bro on this thread, and his friend. Therefore, the one I describe above is the likely candidate.

_____________________________________________

For those of you carrying USD, on 13/1 at NAIA Terminal 3 (MNL), rate was 1 USD = PHP 43.20. At Robinsons Mall in Malate on the same day, at the popular money exchange (green signboard) near the supermarket, 1 USD = PHP 43.70.

Once again, it was a pleasure meeting up again with: The Lord, taxi69 and another (unnamed) bro who is my ex- Indonesia cheong buddy - you know who you are.

Cheers.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Forgot to add:

Moral of the story/lessons learnt = 1. Interview or not, all BFs continue to be a gamble with regards to her being a runner or not. Therefore, why bother with the interview? 2. If staying in a hotel with an in-room tray of goodies for sale, remember to remove and stow away out of sight.

Now those taking cebu pac/seair flights food on flight pretty much filipino instant food...

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips

Not sure if this has been posted before.... But im posting it anyway...

The lord: points to ponder in red

Dr. Teresita Esguerra, chief of the social hygiene center of the city health office, also noted an eight percent increase in cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among thousands of women registered as workers in local bars and other tourist-oriented establishments. She told The STAR that there are about 13,000 registered workers in local entertainment establishments who are all required under a city ordinance to undergo weekly smear tests at the social hygiene center.

“Since last July, the number of such workers coming for the tests has increased from an average of 700 to 1,200 daily,” she said.  Center nurse Lynne Velasco quoted the STD victims as saying that Koreans have replaced Americans as the suspected sources of their ailments. (Why am I not surprised at that)

Angeles earned the tag “sin city” as American soldiers stationed at the former Clark US Air Force base frequented the “red light districts” here for their “rest and recreation.” The red light districts suffered a slump when the Americans abandoned Clark in 1991, but resurfaced a few years later when Clark was converted into a special economic zone. (Even Esquerra mistakenly calls it a “Red Light District” instead of “Adult Entertainment District or Zone”)  Esguerra noted that since 1985, at least 100 locals, mostly women working in bars, have been confirmed to be HIV-positive. HIV eventually leads to the fatal Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

A rapid test we did recently revealed 10 more suspected HIV cases but we are not informing the concerned girls yet until we receive a confirmation from a laboratory in Manila,” she said. Esguerra, however, said her office has lost track of most of the 100 confirmed HIV cases. “We got feedback that some went back to their provinces, while about 10 have already died of AIDS,” she said. Velasco said the victims included three siblings, now aged two, four, and seven who were orphaned by parents who died from AIDS. These children are now under the care of a foundation in Manila.

Esguerra cited limitations provided by Republic Act 8524 of the Philippine National AIDS Law that prevent health authorities from tracking down probable sources of HIV in the city’s foreign community.

We also cannot control the activities of the HIV patients. We cannot forbid them to return to the bars to work, neither can we warn the bars on the health of the patients,” she said. (Hence the weakness of the program – how ridiculous)

Esguerra and Velasco said attempts to provide the patients with other forms of livelihood have failed. “The cash given them just vanishes. It seems that their experience in bars has developed an outlook for easy money,” Velasco said.  She said six confirmed HIV patients are now under the care of the city government.
Four of them are employed as “peer advisors” to other bar workers.  Esguerra noted though that compared to other major cities in the country, the local HIV situation is not as bad. “But we have to be vigilant,” she added.

Next month, she said random HIV tests would be done among registered and freelance entertainers as well as tricycle drivers, among whom STD cases have been reported to be significant. “At least 300 from each group would undergo behavioral and blood tests,” she said.

Esguerra said her office is pushing the availability of condoms in nightspots to help prevent the spread of HIV and other STDs.

The female entertainers, however, report that most of their customers refuse the use of condom. In gay bars, the male workers are embarrassed to admit having had sex with customers, so they refuse blood tests,” she said. SOURCE: The Nation
