中元街熱鬧消失客房空置
夜幕下的常平中元街，燈火輝煌。酒店門口早早就擠滿候客的計程車和藍牌車，臨時停車場早已擠爆，酒店周邊的 飲食店開始沸騰。頭戴鴨舌帽、肩背旅行包的港人在港式茶餐廳消費完後，走進酒店夜總會。從下午3點到次日淩 晨3點，擁有7家酒店的中元街是常平、乃至東莞東部最熱鬧的地方，但這是一年前的光景。
現在的中元街變得冷冷清清，沿街的商鋪相繼貼出轉讓廣告。酒店開始不再大面積招人，客房出現大面積空置，深 受本地人喜歡的酒店早茶沒有了以往排隊等候的盛況，酒店餐廳打出特價廣告也少有人光顧。
10月28日22時許，美怡登酒店值夜班的老陳發現，原來負責引導車流的四個人變成兩個，到了消費最旺的時 段，酒店停車場還空空如也。老陳想去找開藍牌車的老鄉聊天，卻發現停在酒店門口的藍牌車也沒有了。“以前， 那些藍牌車司機一個月能賺上萬元。”老陳說，除了藍牌車，還有成群電動車。今年以來，就看不到這種排長龍的 盛況了。春節後的“整頓風暴”讓許多酒店更加艱難，也徹底解決了“藍牌車趕不走”的問題。

酒店夜總會變數販式KTV
為了吸引客戶，不少酒店都各出招數。君悅酒店在酒店門口掛上消費打折廣告：“中餐消費300元以上即可享受 優惠價98元入住客房一間，消費500元以上即可免費送客房一間。”從9月份開始，君悅將裝修豪華的夜總會 改成平民消費的量販式KTV，還開出很多優惠條件。
現在很多酒店的夜總會都改成量販式KTV，沒有改的就處於停業狀態。常平匯華酒店總經理葉熾文說，五星級的 歐亞酒店最近也把夜總會改成量販式KTV，消費價格降低一半。
在匯華酒店總經理辦公室，葉熾文正在查看業績報表，旁邊堆著一遝厚厚的行銷方案。今年來，這個曾被視為常平 酒店業風向標的酒店，陷入前所未有的經營困境，跟很多酒店一樣行走在虧損的邊緣。這也是酒店職業經理人葉熾 文從業20多年以來，最艱難的一年。他帶領的酒店管理團隊不斷探索新領域，他也幾乎使盡渾身解數，但始終沒 有將酒店徹底拉出困境。匯華酒店的夜總會也關停了，關停的還有中餐廳。

常平100多家酒店無一盈利
我們現在經營壓力很大，本來酒店就是娛樂占大頭，現在娛樂關停，同時周邊工廠的商業活動和企業的接待活動也 減少，客流量減少很多。葉熾文說，常平酒店以前的利潤都來自娛樂業，真正的商務客並不多。酒店客房的銷售也 是依靠娛樂業帶動，現在這個發動機停了，酒店的餐飲和客房自然也停下來。
葉熾文坦言從來沒有這樣艱難過。之前中央八項規定出臺後，酒店經營者們還懷有希望，希望通過開拓新的模式， 找到新的利潤點。可今年很多酒店陷入經營困境，不少從業者悲觀的離開。“以前談起自己是做酒店的，還有自豪 感，現在都不敢說了。”葉熾文說，銀行的人以前都是酒店常客，總想放貸給酒店，現在他們則避而遠之，生怕酒 店向銀行借錢。酒店在銀行業人士眼裡已成了不良資產，隨時可能倒閉。
葉熾文說，現在常平100多家酒店沒有一間盈利，大家都在熬日子，就看誰先“投降”。業內人士認為，作為常 平酒店龍頭的匯華酒店尚且艱難生存，其他酒店更是苦不堪言。

CP is going through changes in operating modules in all hotels .... from restaurants to ktvs ... Ouya was first to implement its ktv to family style and a few are following the same .... this the only way to avoid closing the hotel entirely ....

Had talk to few ktvs directors who chose to stay behind all admit are struggling to survive but still dun want to venture out like many others to surrounding places like FS, DS, HZ ......

Chang Ping has always had the cheapest hotel rates around, now cheaper still; and the reason is that it's the Chinese hotel model gone to its extremes.

Many Chinese hotels are more than satisfied when their hotel room rates just break even, as the big profit is from the Ktv, sauna, footsy etc operations.

Even the ones that the owners have contracted out to western hotel chains to run properly - many also have a separate nearby building (at least a separate entrance) housing these very lucrative operations that they run themselves.

The rest are budget hotels or.... Shuttered ones!! Jk!

The headache part for the hotel owners are the multi millions mortage repayment.

I'm very bullish on the mid to long term outlook of Changping but short term (2 years) wise it is not good.
A very good example will be Shenzhen and Zhuhai.
Once upon a time these cities were once swept till clean clean.
After many years it slowly evolved into what it is today.

CP been a home away from home for so many years to me its hard to abandon just becoz of the yanda.

staying here one last nite before leaving for home tomorrow morning, will be partying all by myself tonite as my buddies all shopping in SZ .....

There is ZERO action there. didn't even see the regular OKTs. The only good thing is that the gals are still very easy to "befriend". Hotel prices have come down - at least in the swan lake area. Clipper rates start from 188 and Swanlake from 138 if I am correct. There is no need to book via an agent. Just make your way down, approach the front desk and they would be happy to give you a room. (its more expensive to book via an agent these days)

I stayed in the Swan Lake Hotel New Wing this time. Very nice rooms. For my 2 days there, all I did were footies and eating. Veged out for 2 days. Pcc'ed to sleep every night.

For the bros looking for action, stay away from CP, there is NOTHING there. I suspect the town will only become "deader" aft CNY cos they wont come back after the holidays.

For the bros just looking for a quiet place to relax and do nothing, then CP is your town.
