In the past, I was warned to watch out for extra drink chits in my cup. That's easy.
I hate to have to be on my guard when I decide to stay in a bar and settle down to enjoy myself.
On Dec 23, My friend and I went into Pony Tails and we had drinks and played pool. When it was time to pay the bill, I checked and found out that we were charged twice for the pool games. Only 30p. I pointed out the error to the waitress and and she apologised and the error corrected. We paid and left.
I believe there is a sickness in DHG about getting extras from the customers. Staff are seeing their colleagues getting rich with such acts and they want to join in the bandwagon. Word goes round and more wants to join in. Works most of the time cos most punters will just fall victim to it or feel that its not worth the effort to confront or reason with a filipina/filipino.
Nowadays IF i do patronise a DHG bar, I enjoy the challenge of catching the little tricks they would do on me.
1. Know the price of drinks and ladies drinks(LD). Check before ordering or giving. Know how many persons getting your LD offers.
2. Ask the price of LD when you offer a girl a LD. So that you will know whether she ordered a double LD or more. Ask whether your own girl whom you brought into THAT bar will be charged LD price or regular price.
3. Occasionally check the chit cup to make sure its correct in number and value. That you are getting happy hour prices if you are entitled.
4. Check the computation of the chits when you are about to pay the bill. And count the change given to you.
Important: If you do catch a scam on you, protest quietly or you may get beaten up in a DHG bar. On Dec 23, a swede was BADLY beaten up when he challenged why he had to pay LD for his own girl at Dollhouse Bar.
If you do not want to take up the challenge with a DHG bar, then its best to avoid these bars and you don get to play the game.

Damn .. that is an ugly thing to do in Angeles .. especially considering that DHG is purportedly run by some expat fellow. ..

Greetings to all.

I just joined SBF and wish to share my experience.

During one of my trip i was asked by a customs officer how much peso i had in my wallet. I said that I had 12K Peso. He asked me to follow him to the office and show the money. I was well aware about the P10K Peso limit.

In the room there was nobody else, the crook said it was illegal and said that he has to confiscate the excess 2K peso. I wanted to resolve the situaion quickly as it was not in my favor so I said ok left 2k on the table and walked off. Lesson learnt !!

So bros, don't take the risk of bringing in more than 10K peso. You can bring in singapore dollars up to value of 10K US dollars.

Sucks to hear about the crap going on at DHG. Was quite silly but I hardly checked the bill in the past in any of the pubs I went to but now will be more alert.

Would avoid going but they have some of best looking dancers in AC IMHO & the entertainment value in these clubs rates pretty highly so have to be more vigilant from now

The last time, in Terminal 1, one customs fellow tried that on me. It was 'tax' for a DVD player, and to make it worse, I had not bothered to repack it - and it was in the original box, and checked in as is.

The fellow demanded 10,000 for tax, and I laughed and told him that he can keep it. Then he went mad, and was asking if I suggested bribery. I just told him the set cost me just 5000 (about 150 S$) and I am not stupid to pay so much for tax. He went out, came back and said he will need to charge 2,000 tax. I said sure, but just let me know the procedure for customs, to bond items so you can take it back on return, instead of paying tax. HIs face turned red, and then he lost it when I said if I will get a receipt for the 'tax'.

He went out again, came back, and said that his officer decided not to pursue my mistake and charge me tax.

SO .. is somebody says 'confiscate', just tell them that you are ok, and just need a receipt, and counter sign by the superior officer, and knowing filipino style, he or she will have her name tag hanging, and just start to write down his or her name ...

Works wonders ...

Not all customs fellows are corrupt, there are more cleaner and decent ones that the corrupt ones.

Subic Bay : avoid Sheaven's Resort Hotel

Horrid experience. Wifey stained their bed sheets and wanted to charge us 3,000P. The stain was washable but management refused to accept and wanted the money.

If you're bringing Children. Then this resort is NOT for you. We brought 10 children up for 3 day holiday and ended up staying for ONE night cos' a guest staying near the swimming pool was complaining we were Too Loud.

We suggested that they put up a sign that says "No CHildren Allowed" but they just smiled.

If no preferred hotel, budget and location is flexible, sure can find something. The value for money hotels are most likely booked up weeks ago especially over the weekend. Good luck mate
