Latest guidelines:

Lab based HIV 4th Gen test - conclusive at 45 days post exposure

Rapid/POC HIV 4th Gen test - conclusive at 90 days post exposure

I have copied the passage from the link you provided:

"4th generation tests are accurate 14 days after exposure, because this is when the p24 antigen becomes high enough to measure; effectively reducing the window period by average of 14 days.

A negative result at 28 days is good news but it is not conclusive. UK guidelines (BASHH) say that an early negative result at 28 days (1 month) needs to be confirmed with a second test 90 days (3 months) after the exposure."

The first paragraph is based on the 2014 US CDC Updated Guidelines for the Lab Diagnosis of HIV. It ONLY refers to lab based 4th Gen testing and makes the statement that the P24 antigen is detectable from D14.

However, please read the 2nd paragraph which quotes the BASHH guidelines that say all rapid tests need to be confirmed at 90 days post exposure. This same recommendation can be found in the US and Australasian guidelines.

It is important to take all information into consideration and not take one sentence out of context. This may lead to misunderstanding or misinformation.

If you like please do read my articles on HIV testing and the risk of getting HIV from oral sex

Re: All you need to know about HIV

Question for Dr Tan: Is it accurate that unprotected virginal and anal sex, sharing of needles and breast feeding (for babies) are the only real-world risks of hiv infection? I read this on the poz forum. Other sexual activities like kissing/frenching even with bites and cuts, unprotected blowjob even with cuts/sores, anal rimming, frotting, etc. are not real-world risks? Reason I read is that saliva contains enzymes that damages hiv cell receptors and render them unable to infect. In fact if the tip of the penis is covered, it is virtually impossible there is a pathway for the virus to enter the bloodstream?

Are you aware of any cases of hiv infection when a condom is used and did not fail (did not shred and semen is captured at the tip after ejaculation)?

Re: All you need to know about HIV

Treatment for HIV could become like receiving a flu jab and require only one injection a year to keep it under control according to a leading pharmaceutical boss. Deborah Waterhouse, chief executive of ViiV Healthcare, which specialises in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, said that the company wants to release an annual jab within the next decade. ViiV – owned by British pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)– currently offers an injection that people with HIV need to take every two months to keep their virus levels suppressed. Sold under the brand name Cabenuva, it has been available in the UK since April last year as an alternative to the more common daily tablets.

Re: All you need to know about HIV

Is it true that the HIV virus becomes instantly inactivated the second it leaves the human body no matter which fluid it is contained in?

I was in a KTV. My girl came in, straddle me, then unzip my pants and started stroking my penis. Then used her fingertips to touch my penis head.

The thought that flashed through my mind was that she probably came straight from another room, where she did the same to another guy and that guy probably precum on her finger tips. I don't think she washed her fingertips cuz she was really drunk.

At worst, maybe a gap of a minute between her leaving the previous room and stroking me in my room?

I did a massive Google search. There is this very well-known POZ forum, and the moderators there insist flat out, in every single thread that even if fresh hot semen or precum lands right on the tip of the penis urethra, there is zero risk.

A quick search through medhelp and the body reveal the same thing.

Reasons given in all 3 websites is that HIV contained within precum and semen becomes inactivated the second it leaves the human body.

Re: All you need to know about HIV

i have answered your doubt in another thread...

anyway......

No, if that is the case, then there wont be cases of transmission via sharing of needles....the HIV virus could survive for quite a while depending on conditions (e.g right temperature).

however in your case, you have nothing to worry, your risk of getting HIV is almost zero, the risk of you getting paranoid though is at least 9/10. HIV isnt transmitted like in your case. read the thread again.

Hi big sexy, thanks very much for your help.

I have this paranoia problem.on one hand, I need sex but on another hand, I easily get worried.

Just today, I was in a shower with a licensed CSW and she mastrubated with her hand, with may or may nor have her vaginal fluids. Online, such like poz forum says no risk but I can't help imagining the worst

This website also says no risk:https://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=72745.0

To be fair, my penis was already wet with soap and water and her hand was also wet with water and soap. It's a fear that she is HIV positive and it somehow was that her vaginal fluid got onto my urethra and passed through my foreskin.

A bit of fear as my penis frenulum was abrasived and red after she did a protected blowjob on me.

what I know, because i have a HIV friend, as long as she takes vitamins/special medicine for HIV everyday, HIV cannot be transmitted. because she said the medicine didn't cure it, but it was useful for putting the virus to sleep, so the virus wasn't contagious. and my friend still lives normally, is married and has children.

But the problem is that not everyone knows that they have HIV. If someone doesn't know they have HIV and doesn't take medication, it can spread to other people

Even though we want to have fun, we should be careful, bro
