No la, it's all rumours. We have no cover at all at LB.

And anyway the youth policy is all part of a gamble. You can get them for cheap from other sides. But up to a point, a few years later, you have to decide if they are good enough for the team; if not, you cash in, and the other club pays, but may reap the success of the grooming, e.g. Fabregas which Barca is looking to buy back now many times the original transfer fee, or this German player you mentioned 4 years from now.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Hi Bros,

Now that WC is over, have started following the transfer scene again to see what the new manager has in store.

Apart from the Serbian bloke, whom I think is a fairly good addition, no other signings have been done. Obviously the lack of funds to buy players have reduced Hodgson to consider bringing in people like Paul Sharner on a free...Haiz! It appears that if we do not sell, we will be unable to buy! Damn the American owners!

Nonetheless, top of my list to sell will be Lucas Leiva. I think he is a useless player and if Palermo want him, just let him go! Wtf, want more money some more???!!! KNN!

Plus, the rumors are flying around about Mascherano wanting to leave. Well I confess that I am a huge admirer of the Argentine skipper but my view is that if a player does not wish to play for a club anymore, then simply let him go. With the 20 million pounds or so, we ought to be able to bring in somebody with some pedigree to replace him.

On this point, I actually fancy Scott Parker, who is now playing for West Ham. He is a no nonsense, hardworking defensive midfielder who can tackle, break up play, has good distribution and pops up to score the occasional goal or two. He should be avaliable for round about the 8 million pounds mark and Hodgson will do well to take a look at him if Mascherano does leave. That will leave a surplus of 12 million pounds to bring in another player or two.

I also feel that Joe Cole will be a superb addition to the squad as his creativity and trickery is solely needed so that Gerrard and Torres (if they stay) can feed off him. Unfortunately, Cole is greedy if the news is to be believed. I cannot see us being able to afford his wages at 120,000 pounds per week. Otherwise, there was some news of the Belgian playmaker Steven Befour being looked at. He seems a really decent addition if we cannot get Cole.

Coming back to the players whom I think I won't be sad to see go, apart from Lucas, I feel that Ngog, Babel, El Zhar and even Aqualani are not good enough to play for Liverpool. I say sell them all and bring in new players. Its time to re-build; even if it has to be from scratch....!

C'mon Hodgson, weave your magic!

I don't mind a change - last season, we had an 'easy start' but we all know what happened. Good to get the players geared up for the challenge

Insua leaving is no more rumors lor. it is confirmed deal already.. bad news in my opinion.

1. we have no LB. true, we can go in the market and buy to replace him, but that is still a gamble whether the new guy can 'gel' into the squad. at least Insua have been playing in and out with the first team like Carra, Agger, Reina, got some teamwork/understanding where the players will be (ie positioning for defense line).
2. our next in line LB to cover whoever we are buying to play in LB is from reserves. maybe Jack Robinson will eventually become a star for Liverpool, but it is quite risky..
3. we lost "home grown" player. that is another issue for Liverpool.. as per new regulations, we need 4 homegrown?

next on the line to leave should be Mascherano liao.. kept seeing news that he want to join back with Rafa in inter.

Is it? What I read is that a deal is being nego. Puzzling this one, Insua played so many games last season. Unless he wants to leave for personal reasons.

No one has actually asked Rafa who he wants to buy. It's possible he may not poach Mascher out of respect to the club. When he came from Valencia, fans were calling for the signing of Silva, Villa, Aimar but he didn't sign them, only the squad or ageing players.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Insua is Leaving Definitely for personal reasons...and he is not confirmed of a first team place.......to be honest i think liverpool dun hav to hav a LB For Now..the can play a 3-5-2 formation...that was how hodgson played fulham last season....with a 3-5-2 formation...johnson is given more role and space to attack the ride side...in the middle carragher, agger and skrtel...should be more than stong enough...midfield liverpool needs someone like fabregas who can read the game and make runs...but unfortunately thats gonna happen..so nxt best thing arda turan the galatasaray captain....i see him as a bright potential..mash can leave if he wans too...provided liverpool can get cover for him....steven defour is an excellent choice..had a great world cup..but still lacks big games credentials...left side i would recommend guardado...he is some 1 who can defend and attack just like glen johnson...thats wat liverpool need actually with...we hav seen they play straight balls thru the middle...which doesnt werk...More Signings i would like to see would be evar banega, alexis sanchez or maybe even aguero if we hav the cash to splash...imagine aguero and torres partnership...explosive...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

bro rahl,
as per requested, here is the link to Insua transfer:
http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/trans...iano-insua-to?

Liverpool has agreed on the price. now left Insua to nego the personal terms. which shouldnt be much issue, unless 1. he is damned greedy to demand very high salary, or 2. he really loves playing for Liverpool, which is rather unlikely, given that some fans really don't appreciate his efforts to cover the position in the absence of older/better LB.

means, these transfers, Liverpool's current boss should have about 20-25 mil to spend le wor..

+15 mil from owner (unless they play punk..)
+ 6 mil from Benayoun
+ 5 mil from Insua
+ X mil from miscellaneous players like Voronin, some kids..
and potentially, Mascherano + 25-30 mil, and Lucas + 5-8 mil..
means, Liverpool should have about 50-60 mil to revamp the squad!

potential target:
- Banega, 9-10 mil
- Defour, 8-10 mil
- Figeroa, 5-6 mil
- XYZ players..

but i think our net spending will be negative.. 'cause need to pay interest for stupid loans from owners.. in the end, they dont need to fork out the promised 15 mil transfer budget because they forced sell the players (insua and bennayoun) even before RH walked into the job..

cheers and have a good day, bros. =)

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Nah bro that doesn't cut it for me as news. I read that before too and all quiet since then. All I remember is that RH has talked about the Insua situation already ongoing before he arrived at the club.

I won't place too much emphasis on the players linked with us too as you mentioned - RH has just come out to rubbish the speculation.

RH, 11 July:
"I saw him play in the last three days and I like him both as a player and on a personal level," Hodgson told Radio Blu in Florence.

"However, talks with Fiorentina started before I got here, so I don't know how advanced they are.

"I cannot say if Insua will stay at Liverpool or not. I'll have to discuss that with the club."
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/media...in-insua-talks

"I have great faith in the Liverpool public that they will see through the snippets of information they may read in the newspapers, take it with a pinch of salt and wait for an official announcement."

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Well personally, I am not at least excited by RH or next season. Don't get me wrong, I am a die-hard fan for the past 20-odd years but somehow, I'm starting to lose faith in our team. Maybe if I don't expect so much from them, I will not feel so disappointed.

The thing is, it is just going from bad to worse. No disregard to RH but i mean come on, just because of what Fulham achieve last season doesn't make him a miracle man. Almost every single season some funny club will out-perform all expectation and last season was Fulham's turn.

In all honesty, RH was recruited because he's thrifty and knows how to buy cheap. The Yankees need a manager who doesn't ask for money. And they got it now.

Now, I'm not saying having a large war-chest is gona win your trophies but in today's football, it makes a huge difference. Great players values are ridiculously inflated and unless you are Mr. Wenger who can spot talents like how we spot FLs, you can only get buy those so-so players at ridiculous price too.

If you ask me what change we need, i say let's sell Gerrard. You didn't hear me wrong. He is Mr. Liverpool after all but for the past few years, it has all been revolved around him. The WC has show us that a winning team doesn't need a superstar. It needs 11 good balanced players. We can't be expecting Stevie G to work his magic every week for us. From relying on him too much, he has become a burden to us. And in this case, its a lose-lose situation for club and player.

With the kind of money we can get from him, let's bring in some good quality players that gives us more options and diversity on the field, coz right now, we can only play like this:

Commentor:
Agger to Lucas.
Back to Agger. He passes to Gerrard.
Gerrard can't find anyone. Back to Agger.
Agger lifts it high to Riera down the left.
Riera brings the ball up.
He SQAURES it to Gerrard... who took too long to control it/got robbed etc.
Now a breakaway from Singapore national team, 3 on 2... blah blah blah.
GOAL! Can you believe it?! The Lions has scored against Liverpool!!!

Sigh...

Following the arrival of Milan Jovanovic....
RH has bought another striker.... 23 year old Loic Remy of France for 12.5 million

Remy was supposed to join Arsenal in the January transfer window but a broken ankle scuppered the deal..... so I guess the injury was a blessing in disguise for Liverpool.

There will be an official announcement once he clears the medical tomorrow.

would love to see DIEGO FORLAN joining Pool. definitely 'headless chicken' no more after his scintillating displays in WC. but i bet his price would be out of reach for Pool.

we need someone deadly to take freekicks n setpieces like Forlan. after alonso left, SG's been mostly responsible in the setpieces last season but he didnt fare too well.

i thought i juz read yester's ST that Pool was still vying Remy's signature with Spurs. didnt know they r on d verge of signing him liao. anyways, hope this guy wont be a flop. he's a top striker in France but a virtual unknown in other parts of Europe.

btw anyone heard any news of Acquilani??? will he be sold or retained?
