The key is 'lawful marriage' ... where the father is a Citizen

The above can be bypassed in certain countries . . father of child inserts his name as father and signs the birth cert, and then retrospectively gets his marriage validated in that country, then notifies MFA, and voila, he is 'lawfully' married at the time of child's birth.

And money talks in many other countries, for a fee, the father's signature can be affixed without even him being there :P

Well, I know also, if a Singaporean or PR got to ROM, get date to marry a maid, they don't care, they will officiate the marriage. Because in ROM, there is a paper the couple have to sign that says "marriage to a citizen of PR doesn't guarantee any form of residency automatically (or something like that .. )

the fun starts when the maid go with the husband to apply for Long term or any other pass, and find 'oh crap' ..

I know a guy, who's maid fell in love with his visiting nephew from overseas, got married, then the guy found out he have to keep the maid under his maid pass, if she have to stay with the nephew. Tried all avenue, then sent the maid and nephew packing to Philippines.
