500 $ can last for a family of 6++ for more than a month.
The problem is, once the family see overseas remittance, they stop buying in Palengke and go to Atas Super market, and no more street food- it is pizza, and all restaurant meals.
Of course, then 500 $ not enough.
Most middle class in Philippine make do with 500 $ or less, but the poorer class need more than that - makes lot of sense.
I don't go into financial advise for such people
i agree with u, having a filipina gf myself, her family is doing quite well. but i can see how her relatives/friends live their life, very very poor financial planning. literally just spend whatever they earn, have no concern at all about the future. $500 is around 16-17k there, 1 meal can be as low as 10-15p over there. i have 0 sympathy for most people in philippines that complain that got not enough money, the truth is, they do, but they dont plan. just a note, 16-17k is also the starting salary of most fresh grad there.
just like over here, some buy above their means, swipe credit to buy their LV's and pradas until bill explode, die die want to drive car. will u take a pity on those people?
Always not enough money they have tons excuse if u Pity them u r their atm so jus find don't not money face n have met some their don't ask for anything even TOP up
Wont it be funny if she produces a daughter who looks like you n she says call him daddy.
While you're still in shock, her lawyers produce a bill for your child's upkeep.
And twist to the story, DNA test shows the fellow is not the father
Don't scare him.
To be honest, one weakness of most pinays (if the girl is Pinay), is if they get pregnant, they don't want the man to support - unless the man is seen as ATM.
They go home, give birth and come back to work.
you know Filippine have lot of single mother, with men never being held responsible, while the men go on to make other women pregnant.

FYI, most I chat with, r not married leh, the man r just their stand in partner. Even they r young, their sex life start very very extremely early. They have more sex partner than we having at their age. But if they r married to sg men, it will totally be a different stories. The SG men who marries them, will be responsible to upkeep her n her philippines children n also her whole kampong. Don't forget they r in poverty n no education in financial planning n their parents r like a god to them, that's y u keep seeing them remitting money. We don't wish to see innocent men being declare bankrupt or being sent to jail for failing to pay maintenance fee. They r here to work n get men to support them. Definitely not only one men will screw the same maid. So I still think just bonk, or if one really like her, just support her. No point risking into unnecessary trouble n end up an ex convict. I always google more on WC n understand y more sg men remain single. Now it is educating on savings n happy retirement. But Once a man is married, he is risking getting into financial problem once their marriage break down, esp if getting a girl from poverty, has even more risk. But having say that, I dare to predict, many years later, one will see the news headline, "more sg men marrying domestic helpers".
