Sexual Health IssuesIf you need medical advice regarding your sexual health, ask Dr Tan. We are honored to have an In House Doctor who is here to help.
In theory, an STI can be transmitted during any of the following sex/ non-sexual acts:
- kissing
- oral-nipple stimulation
- oral sex, including giving head and rimming
intercourse, including anal and vaginal intercourse
- hand sex, including anal fingering, vaginal fingering, vulva stimulation, and hand jobs
- any play involving menstrual blood, blood from another part of the body, or lactation
- breastfeeding or chestfeeding
What we don't know or not studied is the odds of transmission/infection for each activity type. Other factors which as cut or open wound contribute to exposure/risk

I'm not a doctor or nurse, my expertise is medical microbiology. Just trying to help as much as I can. Chiong safe and be responsible.
Odds of transmission via various route is low and uncertain. There ain't enough studies/research to prove it.
Like ppl know the odds of winning 4D/TOTO big prizes is low, but they still buy thinking that they could be the lucky one. On the other hand, there are ppl are take unnecessary risk thinking that they can't be that unlucky. It's fine to chiong, but do take precautions.
May the odds be ever be in your favor

Bro, TQ for fast response as an expert in microbiology is a "par excellence" with any medical doctor - really a brainy guy - I salute you.
Like yr idiomatic phrase "May the odds be ever be in your favor"
Sometimes, I wonder why the powers-to-be don't understand that every men or now even women need sex [even brainy, simple, powerful, weak, etc guys, simple guys, etc] but closed down so many joints as long as underaged population are heavily barred from indulging till they reached the right age to do so ... ??

Thanks pal. Licensing, controlling the business & 'protecting' the people
Licensing: govt also need to earn. right license for right work.
control and protection the people: GL is e 'correct' place for FJ. WL are scheduled to test regularly, this prevent outbreaks and disease management going out of control. ML dont get tested for STI except for HIV and a few other diseases, & it is done only when renewing work permit (correct me if i'm wrong). If a infected customer passed e disease to 1 ML, that ML will pass to how many men, & these men go spread to other ML. Things basically spiral out of control with this vicious cycle. To things worst, the infected may be asymptomatic or symptoms and signs will take years to show up for viral blood diseases . This also why MOH has a guideline for lab/doctor to report if anyone is tested positive for a huge list of infectious diseases.

Thank you for widening the scope of the discussion - only thing where do we post - in which thread, without it being deleted - as a microbiologist is not easy to engage in, in private parctice - not every one has such deep expertise & yet hv the freedom to experience the chionging life ...!! haha!!

Other then getting frequently tested and wearing condom for FJ and BJ. Are there anythings we can do to protect ourselves?

The only way is NOT to go lol. Just stop worrying and relax, protect yourself from HIV and circumcise or take vax for the others if you need them. There are a lot of other things than just STI when you get in contact with the girls.
Catch covid and other common illness from the girls, countless times of sore throat from DFKing the girls, UTI from BBBJ, teeth causing injury during BJ etc lol. Almost all the BJ I had were unprotected. I had my fair share of catching them, but so far nothing yet from the STD list and rawing the girls even when chionging overseas.

Frequent testing technically doesn't protect you. It protects others in the scene more, provided you stop when infected with something. Another thing testing does is can alert u to get treated before it turns into something more serious.
Re: First time at Geylang, can't stop worrying about STD risk
@zip4671 I'm far from being a microbiologist ( one need to be a doctor who specialised in microbiology to be addressed as so). Microbiology is part of my work
@hp2k yeah. Looks that u got good answers from the 2 bros. Just to add on, no french or painting them down there. Really just f and go.
Years back, I did encounter someone in his early 30s who went to GL; he went raw with golden shower. Weeks later he was hospitalised for penile discharge and conjunctivitis. NG was isolated from his gential swab and eye culture. Soon he was tested positive for Chlamydia. I didn't follow up on his case thereafter, hopefully his tests for the 3 bloodborne viruses were ok.

Bro, thanks for the conscientious updates.
It's really scary to be hospitalised. I believed tt he must hv developed high fever & must hv visible symptoms.
How to expalin to his OC/gf or FWB or regular partner as well as employer?
