Baczek, a professional beer brewer, pleaded guilty to hurting Mr Dieu Eng Hee, 42, on September 28 last year. Mr Dieu had been driving and had picked up Baczek at around 11pm. Baczek asked to be taken to Lorong J Telok Kurau and on the way, he fell asleep. Upon arriving at the street Baczek had asked to be dropped off at, the taxi driver woke up the American to ask where he wanted to alight. Baczek sleepily replied "level one" and fell back to sleep. Confused, the taxi driver woke up the man again only to be scolded for waking him up a second time. The man proceeded to hurl vulgarities at him before shouting and punching him in the head.
