The horrifying incident took place earlier today as the aircraft was coming into park. It is unclear how the staff member had got into a position where he was sucked into the engine. The worker was killed instantly in the shocking accident. Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani said this afternoon: 'An Air India technician died in a mishap during pushback of flight AI 619. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.' An airport official told Hindustan Times: 'The body is still stuck in the engine, efforts are going on to retrieve it.' It is not yet clear how the worker came to be so close to the engine. Air India bosses are yet to say how many people were on board the plane and whether any passengers had witnessed the incident.
