Thumbs up Serious Parking fees Increased Actually because Numbers of Cars Reduced

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

I want to point out that the carparks revenues reduced recently, as economy worsen, the Singaporeans are GIVING UP CARS, in many carparks you can observe less cars and more empty parking lots. So they increase the parking fees to get the same revenues. They had also over spent in automation and upgrading carparks need to make us PAY for what they Squandered.

In many Multi-story, when you dive in at late night past mid night you are finding less cars now, Lesser now than 1 year ago. I used to have to drive up to LEVEL 5A or 5B at night in order to get a space to park, now at LEVEL 4A or 4B lots are all empty already.

SINGAPORE: Motorists will be able to purchase new parking coupons with higher charges from Oct 12, the Housing Development Board (HDB) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said on Tuesday (Oct 11) in a joint press release.

The new coupons will be available at all HDB Branches/Service Centres, the URA Centre and authorised coupon agents such as all petrol stations, Cheers and 7-Eleven outlets, the release added.

EXCHANGE OF UNUSED OLD PARKING COUPONS

"Motorists can also exchange their old parking coupons for new ones by topping up the difference in value at 155 locations islandwide.

"These include 131 petrol stations, in addition to the 23 HDB Branches/Service Centres and The URA Centre," the statement added.

HDB and URA also said coupon exchanges at the participating petrol stations will be available from Dec 1, 2016 to Jan 31, 2017.

For motorists who wish to exchange their coupons earlier, they can do so at any of the HDB Branches/Service Centres and The URA Centre from Oct 12, 2016. There is no deadline for the exchange at these locations, the statement said.

The new rates were released by the HDB and URA in Jun 30 and will take effect from Dec 1, 2016. The announcement came after the agencies said that a review of public car park charges was being conducted.
